Postpartum Therapy in NYC for New Moms

Supporting new mothers in NYC and offering virtual therapy across New York and New Jersey.

Having a baby can be really, really hard.

Not “a little overwhelming.”
Not “an adjustment.”
Hard.

You are recovering physically, not sleeping enough, and responsible for a baby who needs you constantly. The mental load is nonstop. There is no real off switch.

You don’t need to minimize it. And you don’t need to wait until you’re at a breaking point to get support.

Understanding What You’re Experiencing

A lot of women in this stage are experiencing:

  • Constant thinking, planning, and worrying that doesn’t really stop

  • Feeling on edge, overstimulated, or like your nervous system never settles

  • Being needed all the time, with very little space to reset

  • Carrying the full mental load of feeding, sleep, schedules, and everything else

  • Trying to stay patient and present while feeling depleted

  • Not recognizing yourself or feeling like you’ve lost parts of who you were

  • Tension in your relationship as everything shifts and there’s less room for both of you

  • Guilt for struggling, especially when you feel like you’re supposed to be happy

It’s the accumulation of everything, all day, every day. And for many women, it’s a lot more intense than they expected.

How Therapy Can Help

Therapy gives you a place where you don’t have to hold it all together.

In therapy, we focus on helping you feel more steady within something that is objectively demanding.

We can:

  • Slow things down so you’re not constantly in reaction mode

  • Work through anxiety, overthinking, and feeling constantly “on”

  • Look at the pressure you’re putting on yourself and begin to loosen it

  • Make sense of what is actually yours to carry and what isn’t

  • Figure out what support you need and how to get it

  • Help you feel more grounded, even when your days are still full

Although this doesn’t take away how hard this stage is, it helps you feel less overwhelmed inside it.

Why work with me?

In my practice, I work with women who are in pregnancy, postpartum, and early motherhood, who are navigating this level of intensity day to day.

My approach is thoughtful and grounded in both insight and practical support. Therapy is a place where you can be honest about what this is actually like, without minimizing it or feeling like you should be handling it differently.

We focus on what you’re carrying in real time, including anxiety, overthinking, pressure, and the constant sense of responsibility, and work toward helping you feel more steady within it.

This includes working with anxious thoughts, the mental load that doesn’t seem to turn off, and the pressure to do things “right” or keep everything under control.

Alongside understanding what’s happening internally, I also help you think through how to move through your days in a way that feels more manageable and supportive, without adding more expectations.

I pay close attention to pacing. You are already managing a lot. Therapy should feel like a place where things slow down, where you don’t have to perform, and where you can begin to feel more like yourself again.

At times, we may also explore how your own upbringing or past experiences shape how you’re experiencing this stage, especially around responsibility, expectations, and how you respond to stress.
